HUNTER BRAINE, ONEONTA NY - Art has no race or gender or style, this was was proven by Independent Spirit, the newest exhibit showcased at SUNY Oneonta. Independent Spirit opened to the public on January 24, displaying various styles of art from 24 different artists around the Oneonta area. The biggest piece shown being a 43-foot mural created by Christine Heller portraying Syrian refugees walking across Europe.
The main focus of the exhibit is to showcase various styles of art from local artists of various ages, races, and backgrounds, creating unity within difference. Within the exhibit you will find pieces of cultural background, fantasy, abstract, post modern, impressionism, all new flavors of art culminating into one show.
The meaning of this show is to expand the minds of those who attend, exposing viewers to all types of art and having them open their minds to all the possibilities life gives them.
Independent Spirit will be available until March 8th in the Fine Arts Building on the SUNY Oneonta campus, and it's definitely one you do not want to miss.
